Pal payasam / Rice payasam/ Rice kheer Recipe
Ingredients:
- Milk/pal 1 litre
- Cardomom/ elakai/ elaichi 4-5 PC's
- Rice / arisi 1 cup
- Saffron (optional)
Directions:
Boil 1 litre of milk and simmer it for 15 minutes to get thick consistencySoak a cup of rice for 10 minutes ( any rice of your choice, it can be basmati/ jeera Samba/ raw rice)
I'm taking a cup of raw rice and pressure cook it for about 2-3 whistles.. rice should not be in a mashy consistency.
Take 4-5 cardomoms and ground it
Add the cardomoms to the boiling milk
Take a cup of sugar.. If you are adding 1/2 cup rice then take 1/2 cup sugar
Add sugar, cooked rice, and I'm adding a pinch of turmeric powder, if you have saffron you can add saffron..
Allow it to cook for 10 more minutes.
You will get a nice colour of your pal payasam.. make sure you are cooking in a low flame.
Finally after an hour our pal payasam is ready๐
